Minnesota Launches “Treat People Like People” Campaign

The Minnesota Office of the Ombudsman for Mental Health and the Governor’s Council on Developmental Disabilities recently launched the “Treat People Like People” campaign.  This initiative was designed to raise awareness of abuse and neglect of people with disabilities and to educate people with disabilities and their families and guardians, along with the general public, on how to identify, report, and respond to abuse of people with disabilities. The campaign highlights the value and dignity of each person living with a disability. Materials were co-created with people with disabilities, their family members, advocates and professionals in policy and care provision.
